Recently I found myself in a deep philosophical mood. What is the meaning of life? Why am I here? What's important to me???
Then I discovered my new life motto: Life's Too Short to Fold Fitted Sheets.
Now, I do not claim to ever having been driven by the need to have my house in perfect order. I've always been a working girl and never hire help for household upkeep, so I make do with the time and energy I have to allot to those chores. But Lisa Quinn has made me feel so much better about it now! A self proclaimed recovering Martha Stewart junkie, she has "written the book" on no-fuss kid parties, half-assed hostessing and household cheats.
The title caught my eye and I decided to pick up a copy. I thought it would be a fun gift for my daughter's bachelorette party (shhhhh!) Of course as I began to thumb through it I got hooked myself!
So, although I truly appreciate the hand-made, home-made, sparkling clean, and elegant; for myself, I accept my limitations and prioritize when I exert that extra effort and allow myself to eliminate some of that pressure to always go beyond to keep up with unrealistic standards (for me).
So yes, life is short, some things are way more important than others, and I learn more about myself and what's important to me every day.
I sure hope it's not too important to my daughter to get a gift book that hasn't already been read!
Cut some housework corners and enjoy a book today, that's my plan!
