So here we are, sailing right into 2009. 2008 was a very hard year for so many of us, and everyone has been affected by it one way or another. Even so, I can't help but think of the many, many wonderful aspects of my life. Oh sure, it isn't, and can't be, all good, but the strength lies within each of us to approach life's inevitable challenges with the skill to survive and sometimes even flourish because of them.
One of my personal joys is the bond I have with all of you who are reading this! And this Christmas I gave the gift of books to friends and family with the hope they will bring them that great pleasure only books can provide. In a way it's a gift to myself, as well, because now I can share the reactions to the stories my friends will be reading, and share the knowledge my husband has gained from all his non-fiction selections. He was the family winner this year, as usual, with the most gift books under the tree!
So bring on 2009, we'll take the bad with the good, and strive to become healthier, fitter, smarter, better informed, more spiritual, more relaxed, greener, yada, yada, yada, as we always do. And will we be successful? Well, isn't the fact we want to the first step? And as we stretch ourselves we can inspire each other in ways we aren't even aware of.
So here's to all of my reader friends, and the very best wishes for the happiest of New Years!! May 2009 bring you new joys and may you find success in your ventures, both planned and especially those springing from the unexpected turns life takes.
There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.
